On Top Of The World

Aug 13, 12

The London Olympic Games has finally come to a close and the U.S. has clawed its way back to the top! With 104 medals (46 Gold, 29 Silver, 29 Bronze), Team USA have deservedly finished head and shoulders above its nearest competitor, China (87 medals – 38 Gold, 27 Silver, 22 Bronze). We, at ArtworkServicesUSA, are immensely proud of our winners and take this opportunity to congratulate each one of them for their fabulous showing and determination on the field.

Here we perform a recap of what we feel were the best American moments at the London Olympics:

30, the magical number

The U.S. had won 30 medals in Track & Field at the Barcelona Games in 1992, a total that was never breached by Americans in subsequent Games. The 2012 Athletics team, however, put in a determined performance to finish with 29 medals, one short of Barcelona’s landmark and the target set by former U.S. Track & Field CEO Doug Logan for the London Games. The highlight in Athletics was definitely the convincing win by the US women in the 4×100-meter relay with 40.82 seconds, destroying a record set by East Germany 27 years ago.

Goodbye, Phelps

When Phelps won gold for the 4X100 meter medley relay, it marked the last time he would swim for his country. He bids adieu with 18 Olympics golds and 22 medals overall. There is no doubt that there was never a more distinguished Olympian in sporting history. You will be missed, Phelps. Thank you for the memories.

Soccer glory
Our women’s soccer team has done it again! We were up against an aggressive Japan in the title clash but Carli Lloyd rose to the occasion with two tenacious goals. Hope Solo defended her post with pride, letting in only 6 goals in the whole tournament.

Thank you, Krzyzewski
Images of Mike Krzyzewski and LeBron James celebrating the Dream Team’s pulsating win over Spain in the finals will remain etched in our minds for a long time to come. Since London is Krzyzewski’s last assignment as Olympics coach, we salute him for leading our bunch of NBA superstars to glory, yet again.

At ArtworkServicesUSA, we celebrated America’s excellent showing by designing artwork for clients based on the Olympic theme. Our artists created 7 high-quality vector art images for clients by juxtaposing their company logos with Olympic rings. We have also completed 11 Olympics-related digitizing assignments. ArtworkServicesUSA continues in its endeavor to provide the best solutions to suppliers and distributors in the promotional industry.

We sign off with a big sense of patriotic pride and the hope of performing even better at Rio, four years from now.
